Deputies Investigating Homicide In Nevada City After Human Remains Found |

Deputies arrested a man in connection to a homicide investigation last week.

Nevada County Sheriff's Office says deputies received information on June 17 about a possible homicide that happened at a property in the 26000 block of North Bloomfield Road in Nevada City.

Officials said after interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, a search warrant was authorized for the property, along with an arrest warrant for 57-year-old Russell Rippetoe of Barstow, California.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene the same day and executed the search warrants around 7:30 p.m. Rippetoe was arrested without incident and taken to Nevada County Jail.

On June 19, human remains were found on the property.

A forensic recovery team from California State University at Chico responded and removed the remains on June 20.

They were taken to the Placer County Morgue where an autopsy will be performed. The identification and cause of death are still pending.
